Frequently asked questions
The short answers parents ask before letting their child write with StorySprout. Anything missing? Reach out — we read every message.
What ages is StorySprout for?
StorySprout is designed for kids roughly ages 6–12. The writing companion adjusts to your child's pace, and the reading level in the generated stories follows what you tell us about your child.
How does the AI co-writer behave during a session?
The co-writer chats back like a kind tutor, not an answer machine. It asks a spark question, encourages the next idea, and gently nudges when your child gets stuck — but it never writes the whole story for them.
The goal is more original sentences, fewer blank-page stares. Your child stays the author; the AI just keeps the momentum going.
What data do you store about my child?
Only what you choose to share: a first name and an age range, if you tell us. We do not collect school names, addresses, photos, or anything else about your family.
We save the stories your child writes and the AI responses they received so the library keeps working. Nothing leaves your account.
What does a typical write-session look like?
You and your child sit down together. You open the writing companion, your child answers a quick spark question — "what if your dog could talk?" — then drafts a few sentences.
The co-writer replies with a follow-up prompt. When the draft is done, you can save it to your library or turn it into a finished bedtime story in about 30 seconds.
How private are my child's stories?
Stories are scoped to your account. They never appear in any public listing, are not shared on social media, and are not visible to other StorySprout parents.
Access requires your signed-in session. We do not use your child's stories to train external models.
How do I find my child's work later?
The /library page lists every story saved under your account, newest first. Click any title to read the full story.
Does my child need their own account?
No. You (the parent) sign up. Your child writes through your session — there is no separate login for them, no password to remember, no profile to manage.
Can I delete a story?
Yes. Today, email us from the address tied to your account and we'll remove any story you no longer want there. A one-click delete button is on the way.
